Dr. Katherine Christensen
Dr. Katherine Christensen (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist who is passionate about helping individuals build resilience, process difficult experiences, and move toward meaningful change. She earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium, where she developed a strong foundation in evidence-based practices and a flexible, client-centered approach to care.
Following her doctoral training, Dr. Christensen completed her clinical internship at the VA Puget Sound – American Lake Division, where she focused on trauma and substance use treatment with a diverse Veteran population. This experience deepened her expertise in working with individuals facing complex, co-occurring concerns and reinforced her commitment to culturally responsive and evidence-based care, especially among underserved populations.
With a warm and collaborative style, Dr. Christensen works with adults across the lifespan – from young adults navigating life transitions to older adults managing chronic or more recent stressors. She supports clients facing a wide range of challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, substance use, and emotion dysregulation. In particular, she has specialized training in treating trauma, utilizing evidence-based treatments such as Prolonged Exposure (PE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to address each client’s needs.
Dr. Christensen believes in creating a therapeutic space that is nonjudgmental, compassionate, and empowering. She approaches therapy from an integrative lens, blending cognitive-behavioral, multicultural, and system-oriented perspectives to tailor treatment to each person’s goals and context. She values authenticity and collaboration in the therapy process and is committed to helping clients develop insight, strengthen coping skills, and lead more fulfilling lives.
