Psychological testing and assessment

Testing and assessment are provided at our affiliated clinic, "Select Services by OPS." The two clinics are housed in the same building and share some office staff and providers. However, the two clinics are separate entities with different procedures and billing systems.

If you or a family member has been referred for psychological or neuropsychological testing, you probably have some questions. Or you may have heard about psychological testing and wonder if you or a family member should be tested. Psychological testing may sound intimidating, but it's designed to help you. In many ways, psychological testing and assessment are similar to medical evaluations; if a patient has physical symptoms a physician may talk with the patient about their symptoms, order X-rays and blood tests, and review medical records to understand what's causing the symptoms. Like medical tests, the results of psychological tests will help to develop a treatment plan. You can learn more about psychological evaluations on this page from the American Psychological Association.

Insurance:

Select Services by OPS does not contract with insurance companies, however clients are typically able to use their out-of-network insurance benefits to pay for testing/assessment. Insurance companies typically will reimburse clients for 60% - 80% of the total costs.

At Select Services, clients pay a nonrefundable deposit prior to seeing the psychologist, then pay the balance of their account after testing/assessment has been completed. Once full payment has been made, the client receives their testing/assessment results, and can request a "superbill." The client may submit the superbill to their insurance company for reimbursement of their expenses.

We strongly encourage that you contact your insurance company prior to services to ask about their reimbursement rates. For psychological and neuropsychological testing, we use CPT codes 96116, 96121, 96130, 96131, 96132, 96133, 96136, and/or 96137.
