  Dr. Lesley Hart

Post-Doctoral Resident

Dr. Lesley Hart comes to Olympic Psychology Services with years of expertise and experience in Texas, as well as on the East Coast. While she awaits the issue of her Washington State license, she is working as a "Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident." She sees out-of-pocket payees for both therapy and psychological testing, but will not be contracted with insurance companies until after her Washington State license is issued.

Dr. Hart earned a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, and then a respecialization in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University. She completed her predoctoral internship at Green Chimneys residential treatment program for children in New York. She has also worked at the Yale University Child Study Center as an Associate Research Scientist, and at the University of Houston as a Clinical Associate Professor. At both universities, she conducted research on reading, language, and developmental disorders and she also ran assessment clinics for children, adolescents, and young adults.

Dr. Hart’s expertise is in reading disorders (including dyslexia), and she understands that comprehensive psychological assessment with solid, realistic recommendations for treatment are paramount for seeking services in the school systems and elsewhere. She conducts assessments related to learning disabilities, ADHD, mood and behavioral problems, Autism Spectrum Disorders, assessment accommodations, and others. Her therapy practice focuses on children and adolescents who are experiencing problems with behavior, anxiety, depression, and school adjustment (including online learning), and she helps parents understand and manage their children’s needs.

On a personal note, Dr. Hart is new to the area, and is enjoying the climate after having lived in Houston, Texas and Milford, Connecticut. Her cat enjoys watching the amazing array of birds and spiders outside her house windows.
