Dr. Ashley Torri received her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in 2019, and became licensed as a psychologist in the state of Washington in 2021. After graduating, she spent six years providing individual and couples therapy at VA Puget Sound Healthcare System. Dr. Torri has received advanced training in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She is a certified provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD (CBCT for PTSD), which helps couples struggling with the impact of PTSD on their relationship.
Dr. Torri’s approach to therapy is collaborative, flexible, and evidence-based, drawing on science-backed treatments while remaining focused on each client’s unique preferences, values, and lived experiences. In a world that can often feel isolating or disconnecting, she believes that trust is an essential ingredient of effective therapy. From the outset, she prioritizes building respect and emotional safety. Dr. Torri aims to always honor the dignity of each individual, and this commitment informs her practice of providing care that is affirming and responsive to the identities of her clients.
With a strong background in the impact of trauma, Dr. Torri specializes in the treatment of PTSD. She has worked with clients who have faced a wide range of traumatic experiences, including childhood abuse, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault as well as trauma encountered by combat veterans and first responders. In addition to trauma-focused work, Dr. Torri also has experience helping clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, life transitions, and grief and loss.
Dr. Torri views therapy with the understanding that pain is an unavoidable part of the human experience, and that much of our suffering comes from the ways we struggle or become stuck as we try to cope with that pain. Drawing on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dr. Torri helps clients make room for difficult thoughts, feelings, and memories while reducing their power to dictate behavior. By building a different relationship with their internal experience, Dr. Torri works with her clients to clarify what matters most to them and build lives that feel more connected and meaningful, even when life is challenging.
Outside of work, Dr. Torri enjoys rock climbing, reading, crocheting, baking bread, and snuggling her two kitties, Harley and Hank.
